Second Amendment Organizations
There are a wide variety of organizations supporting the Second Amendment to the American Constitution. Some of these are well known entities like the NRA while others are more specialize and/or obscure. All of them share the common purpose of preserving the freedom of Americans to bear arms.
"While widely recognized today as a major political force and as America's foremost defender of Second Amendment rights, the National Rifle Association has, since its inception, been the premier firearms education organization in the world. At 3 million members the NRA has substantial political clout in the United States.
"Established in 1975, the Institute for Legislative Action (ILA) is the "lobbying" arm of the National Rifle Association of America. ILA is committed to preserving the right of all law-abiding individuals to purchase, possess and use firearms for legitimate purposes as guaranteed by the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution."
"Gun Owners of America (GOA) is a non-profit lobbying organization formed in 1975 to preserve and defend the Second Amendment rights of gun owners. GOA sees firearms ownership as a freedom issue."
"The Second Amendment Foundation (SAF) is dedicated to promoting a better understanding about our Constitutional heritage to privately own and possess firearms. To that end, we carry on many educational and legal action programs designed to better inform the public about the gun control debate."
"To destroy "gun control" and to encourage Americans to understand and defend all of the Bill of Rights for everyone.
Those are the twin goals of Wisconsin-based Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership (JPFO). Founded by Jews and initially aimed at educating the Jewish community about the historical evils that Jews have suffered when they have been disarmed, JPFO has always welcomed persons of all religious beliefs who share a common goal of opposing and reversing victim disarmament policies while advancing liberty for all."
The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms describes itself as the "common sense gun lobby." They aggressively defend the Second Amendment and inform all who will listen about the value of our Second Amendment rights.
"Mothers Arms provides information, resources and support to help you learn how to defend and protect yourself and your children from assault and aggression. Mothers Arms enables women like you to develop awareness of your surroundings, gain common-sense safety skills and use safety defense tools if you wish.""
"The Cato Institute seeks to broaden the parameters of public policy debate to allow consideration of the traditional American principles of limited government, individual liberty, free markets and peace. Toward that goal, the Institute strives to achieve greater involvement of the intelligent, concerned lay public in questions of policy and the proper role of government."
"Students for Concealed Carry on Campus is an organization made up of college students, parents and concerned citizens who support the right of concealed carry license holders to carry on our college campuses."
The National Shooting Sports Foundation's purpose "is to provide trusted leadership in addressing industry challenges and in delivering programs and services to meet the identified needs of our members."
